Resilience, a much-debated topic amongst educators is what has helped me get started today. As we all work to be better versions of ourselves, things often don’t link up, sometimes they completely fall through and then, you’re left feeling like there’s nothing you can do.

2020 began as a year for adventure and as it progressed, it seemed as though there was little hope for anything exciting to happen. As one made peace with this uneventful and unpredictable state of existence, somehow new ideas, informed observations and a fresh take on life emerged out of the blue. I decided to put it on the back burner and watched with more patience than I’ve ever had. Gradually, all the separate pieces came together and an exciting new concoction began to brew.

Coping with change focuses on my personal view on how the world is a dynamic place where we’ve got to develop our own mechanisms to adapt and grow. We’ve seen life come to a halt and slowly start up again and the message has never been clearer, ‘every now and then, everyone needs time off’. While I stand by that I also believe that the same formula doesn’t work for everybody. However, as a general rule, time not only heals but helps make sense of things.

Slowing down gives you time to introspect, to evaluate and most importantly to reflect. And there seems to be no better way to develop resilience, a quality that will help us ride this wave and others that follow.

I’m delighted to introduce Roam, Rest and Reflect, a space where I have finally decided to share my thoughts. With the general themes of travel, education and environmental awareness, I hope to be able to bring my secret book of stories to life.
