Welcome 2023. Are we Ripe for a Reformation?

I don’t know if it’s been the same for everybody, but personally, I’ve been riding the waves of the pandemic for the past 3 years. Letting them define where I went, what I did, and essentially, how I felt most of the time. ‘Let’s see what’s feasible’ became the norm and waiting and watching became the standard course of action.
We were made to believe that we were confronted with a grave threat to our existence and suddenly, time stood still. Now that we’ve been made to believe that we’re past the worst and danger is at bay, we seem to have jumped right back to the same old ways. Interestingly, life has a way of juxtaposing times of happiness against moments of heartbreak. Threats and sadness often loom over us but is it necessary for them to define how we act? The magic of living for the moment isn’t an overrated notion.
Perhaps it’s a time to bring in the new year not just with resolutions but rather the desire for a reformation. To try and open up doors to less judgment and more tolerance. To try and be better for the society we live in, rather than the somebody, society requires us to be. To swim against the waves even though it’s so much harder and finally, to walk the talk, instead of putting those who do the opposite on a pedestal.
And, maybe it’s also time to reimagine who we aspire to be. Sometimes you open doors to a new you and find someone you always wanted to be.
